Can in give my dog pain medicine?
Posted on November 21, 2009
I know you can give your dog asprin, but is there anything else i can give her? She is in really terrible pain, i came home and she had gotten attacked by something, not terrible but she is still in pain. Anything that would help me help her is fantastic. Thanks in advance.

Take her to the VET if she is in pain. If she got attacked by “something”, then she could have contracted a disease/virus from whatever attacked her. Is she up to date on shots?
If you got attacked by an animal, and were in pain, wouldn’t you want to see a doctor?
Don’t give your dog ANY human medication without seeing a vet first. FYI, Advil (Ibuprophen) can and will kill your dog, so don’t even reckon about it.

you’ll prob kill the dog – dont be bone idle. just take the animal to the vet. of if your not willing to take care of the dog call up the animal rescue – it is a living creature after all. it deserves life

She needs to see a vet. Aspirin is VERY hard on the stomach. If she was attacked by something, she should be looked over, she could have punctures that can go septic.

If buffered baby aspirin isn’t helping (this is the ONLY human pain medication you should ever consider giving your dog), then you should take her to the vet and have the vet give you pain medication specific to dogs. There are a few animal specific pain medications out there – and the vet can help you choose what is best for her. It is also possible that more than just pain medication is needed. If she was attacked, she could have other injuries that need to be treated.
I would recommend getting her to the vet ASAP.

If she was attacked then you should take her to the vet. She could have some internal injuries that aren’t apparent to you.

No, you really can’t. You said she “had gotten attacked by something”. Don’t you even know what she got attacked by? Do you know what her injuries are? Does she have internal injuries? Don’t you realize if your dog is in pain, she needs the vet since you don’t even know WHY she’s in pain? How do you know whether or not her pain is terrible, just get her to the vet. She’s been in pain for long enough!

Most vets will be able to prescribe something for pain and you should really consult with your vet, because even if the same medicine can be used for a dog and for a huma, the dosing is determined by weight and metabolism. Therefore, what may be safe for you, may injure your dog.

You should take her to the vet first and he/she will know what is safe to give for pain. Hope your doggy feels better soon!!

You really don’t want to be giving a dog any pain medicine unless it’s prescribed by a vet. They don’t handle some human drugs well, plus there’s the issue of size/weight. Your best choice is a trip to the vet.

GO TO THE VET! It is common sense that if a dog has gotten attacked even if its not bed it needs to go to the vet straight away! What ever attacked it could have a disease that your dog could get or something could get infected and then to treat that would be a lot harder than treating it now! If you have a pet you have to be willing to spend a small money to give them the care that they deserve and need! No over the counter pain meds just go to the vet!

if you take your dog to the vet they can give you medication for it.. My dog once broke an elbow and had a cast on, and the doctor gave us morphine to give to him

the vet can give you something better…rimadyl work for pain but you need a prescription to get that…the vet can also inject pain med that helps with the pain. And there’s also this liquid they gave my dog before that helps with pain…also prescription only…and don’t give her people pain med..you can kill her
